Databases Inventory (EDMED Forms) --------------------------------- *DATASET-NAME: National wave measurement network - Rete Ondametrica Nazionale *TIME-PERIOD: From July 1989 on-going. *GEOGRAPHIC-COVERAGE: The national wave measurement network was initially formed by eight directional pich-roll buoys, displaced in the open sea of La Spezia, Alghero, Ortona, Ponza, Monopoli, Crotone, Catania and Mazara, anchored at a average depth of 100 m. Two more translational buoys were added in 1999, at Cetraro and Ancona. *PROJECT: RON (Rete Ondametrica Nazionale) *PARAMETERS: Standard wave parameters (Significant height Hs, Maximum height Hmax, Significant period Ts, Mean period Tav, THmax, Maximum crest Cmax, Mean direction, Directional spread). *INSTRUMENTS: 7 Directional pitch-roll Datawell Wavec buoys (Hippy 120 sensor) and 3 Directional translational Datawell-Waverider buoys (Hippy 40 sensor). *SUMMARY: The data were and are currently collected for the monitoring of the physical characteristics of Italian seas, assess and forecast the coastal marine environmental. The experimental activity is based on 10 Datawell Directional buoys. Ashore the satations are completed by a centre for the reception and processing of the radio-transmitted data. The data are acquired for thirty minutes every three hours. Data received from the stations are validated and spectral parameters for frequency band are computed. *REFERENCE: Corsini S., Inghilesi R., Franco L. and Piscopia R., Atlante delle onde nei mari italiani - Italian wave atlas, APAT and Università di Roma, 2004. *CENTRE: Agency for the Protection of the Environment and Technical Services - APAT. *DATA-WEBSITE: www.idromare.com *STORAGE-MEDIUM: Digitised data on disc mass storage. *AVAILABILITY: Agency for the Protection of the Environment and Technical Services - APAT. *CONTACT: Stefano Corsini *COMPLETED-BY: A.
