Databases Inventory (EDMED Forms) --------------------------------- *DATASET-NAME: Drifting surface data collected during DOLCEVITA project *TIME-PERIOD: From 21 September 2002 to December 2003. *GEOGRAPHIC-COVERAGE: Adriatic, Ionian Sea and Mediterranean Sea (box 30-46N, 10-20E) *PROJECT: DOLCEVITA - Dynamics of Localized Currents and Eddy Variability in the Adriatic *PARAMETERS: Temperature, Surface Current. *INSTRUMENTS: TECHNOCEAN, METOCEAN, CLEARWATER, PACIFIC GYRE Lagrangian drifting buoy. *SUMMARY: DOLCEVITA is an international project focusing on the Adriatic Sea sponsored by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and involving several oceanographers, both experimentalists and modelers, of the United States and Europe. The main objective of the DOLCEVITA project is to quantify the kinematic and dynamic properties of the northern and middle Adriatic (NMA) Sea. In particular the experimental work includes collection data provided by drifters and high-frequency coastal radars. 120 drifters were deployed in the North-Middle Adriatic Sea. Position and Sea Surface Temperature data are transmitted to OGS via ARGOS in real-time. Surface velocity fields are calculated. *REFERENCE: *CENTRE: Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale - OGS. *DATA-WEBSITE: http://doga.ogs.trieste.it/doga/sire/dolcevita/index.html *STORAGE-MEDIUM: Digitised data on disc mass storage. *AVAILABILITY: Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale - OGS, January 2006. *CONTACT: Dr. Pierre-Marie Poulain *COMPLETED-BY: A.
